Rivera, Alex

He participated in two editions of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM): In the 1st FICM with The Sixth Section (2003), which won the award for Best Short Documentary Film; and in the 6th FICM with his first feature Sleep Dealer (2008). This last film was also shown at the New Directors/New Films of MoMa, New York, and won the Alfred P. Solan Feature Film and Waldo Salt Screenwriting awards at the 24th Sundance Film Festival, and the Amnesty International Award at the 58th Berlin International Film Festival, Berlinale, among others. In addition to making films, he is also a digital media artist and has done several audiovisual projects, including, the video-clips for the French singer-songwriter Manu Chao, Clandestino (1998), and the Mexican-American musical group La Santa Cecilia, Ice El Hielo (2013).
