Terrazas, Kyzza

He studied Philosophy at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and he received a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from Columbia University, in New York. He has participated five times at the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM). In the 3rd FICM his short fiction film Matapájaros (2005) was in competition. In the 9th FICM he competed with his first feature film El lenguaje de los machetes (2011); which participated in more than 10 festivals around the world and which won the Jury Award at the 52nd Cartagena International Film Festival (FICCI), in Colombia, and the New Horizons Award at the 12th Whistler Film Festival, Canada, among other prizes. He was also the executive producer of the films No quiero dormir sola (2012) by Natalia Beristain, part of the Official Selection of the 10th FICM, and of Cochochi (2007) by Laura Amelia Guzmán and Israel Cárdenas, part of the Official Selection of the 5th FICM. His documentary feature film Somos lengua / Speaking Tongues (2016), part of the Offical Selection of the 14th FICM, won the Warrior Award of the Press and the Young Jury Award at the UNAM International Film Festival (FICUNAM) and the Audience Award at the Durango New Mexican Film Festival.
