Coronel, Alfonso

He studied design and visual communication at the National School of Visual Arts (ENAP, in Spanish) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and cinematography at the CUEC-UNAM film school in Mexico City. He is currently studying for a master’s degree in documentary film in the Department of Art and Design at the CUEC-UNAM film school. He won First Place in Short Film Screenwriting at the 7th Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) for his screenplay Mi pobre corazón (2004). He participated in the 5th Kinoki International College Film Festival, Mexico City, with his documentary short film Axolotl (2008) and Sonido en las sombras (2009). The last film won First Place in Animated Short Film at the 7th Video CortoCinema National University Short Film Festival, Guanajuato. He participated in the 10th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) and the 7th Short Shorts Film Festival México (SSFFM) with his short fiction film Vuelve Primavera (2012). His short fiction film El relojero (2013) was part of the Official Selection of the 8th Latin American Film Festival of La Plata (FESAALP), Argentina, and the 12th Mexico City International Horror Film Festival (Macabro FICH).
