Arce, Adrián

He studied social communication at the Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM, in Spanish), Mexico, and received a master’s degree in media production with a specialty in film production from the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). He received a Funding for Artists grant from BBVA Bancomer, Mexico, in 2003. He participated in two editions of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM). In the 3rd FICM, he participated with his feature-length documentary, Voces de la guerrero (2004), co-directed with Antonio Zirión and Diego Rivera Kohn, which was presented in more than 10 festivals around the world and won, among other prizes, the SIGNIS Award for Best Documentary, a Special Mention and the Sergei Eisenstein Award at the 3rd Independent Hispanic American Film and Video Festival, “All Voices Against the Silence,” in Mexico City, and the 2004 José Rovirosa Award of the UNAM Film Archives. He participated in the 6th Festival of Latin American Documentary and Photography in Spain, and the 6th Independent Hispanic American Film and Video Festival, “All Voices Against the Silence,” with his feature length documentary Memoria en brasas (2006), among other film showings and festivals. His short fiction film El Ñero’s trip (2007) participated in the 2nd Short Shorts Film Festival Mexico (SSFFM), among other festivals, and won an Honorable Mention at the 1st Sydney Underground Film Festival (SUFF). He participated, among others, in the 11th FICM and in the 5th BORDOCS Documentary Forum, Tijuana, with his short documentary film Fuera de foco (2013), which won the Jury Award at the 4th Concordia International Social Film Festival (FICSC, in Spanish), Argentina, and the Best Documentary award at the Recife Ethnographic Film Festival (FFER, in Portuguese), Brazil.
