Whit Stillman to present Damsels in Distress at 10th FICM

Stillman's subsequent films, Barcelona (1994) and The Last Days of Disco (1998), also received favorable reviews by international critics, reaffirming his talent for depicting the U.S urban haute bourgeoisie and consolidating his reputation as a cult director. We are proud to announce that Stillman will join us at the 10th FICM to present his fourth feature, Damsels in Distress.

In Damsels in Distress, a trio of beautiful girls, the dynamic leader Violet and her loyal friends Rose and Heather, set out to revolutionize life at their grungy college. They welcome transfer student Lily into their group, which seeks to help depressed students with a program of good hygiene and dance numbers. The girls become romantically entangled with a series of men, including slick Charlie, dreamboat Xavier and the mad pack of Frank and Thor, who threaten their friendship and sanity.

Stillman will present Damsels in Distress on Thursday, Nov. 8, at Cinépolis Centro at 9 pm to 10:39 pm, and on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Cinépolis Centro at 12:15 pm to 1:54 pm. Check out our program and don't miss the screenings with the presence of this important director.
