Daniela Michel welcomed the audience to the screening, where she highlighted the value of the filmmaker as a pioneer of the Mexican film industry. "For us it is very important to educate audiences, for young people to participate and for the public to appreciate the classic cinema we have," she added.

Jorge Martínez Micher highlighted the work of the UNAM Film Archive, which, with 63 years of history, houses nearly 50,000 titles in its 15 vaults. "For us, it is important to promote the work of the Film Archive, focused on preserving, restoring and distributing Mexican cinema," he added.

El prisionero 13

El prisionero 13, tells the story of Marta, who leaves her alcoholic and abusive husband, Colonel Carrasco, taking her young son with her. The boy, Juan, grows up to be an admirable young man. Years later, Carrasco accepts a bribe to free a revolutionary from prison and asks that he be replaced by anyone. That anyone turns out to be his own long-lost son. When Carrasco finds out, he desperately tries to prevent his officers from shooting him dead.

The film is part of the director's Trilogy of the Revolution (Trilogía de la Revolución), which is complemented by El compadre Mendoza (1933) and Vámonos con Pancho Villa (1936).
