Zapatos Rojos is set in a forgotten corner of the Mexican highlands where Tacho, a peasant who takes care of his sad plot while life slips through his hands, lives. When Tacho receives news of his daughter’s death, he must go to the city, a brutal and unknown world, to bring her back home.

“We are very excited to present the film on the festival's 20th birthday,” the director of the film said at the beginning of the conference. “I don't watch a lot of news, but I feel the pulse of this country. I am no stranger to what happens to women. I do not share this polarizing idea that there are those who can talk about it and those who can’t,” he added.

Eichelmann Kaiser stressed that Zapatos Rojos is a reflection that “goes beyond good and bad.” “I didn’t want to be political or provocative, I wanted to make an emotional reflection; I was interested in adding a grain of sand to heal the wound [...] "There is nothing more political than poetry," he concluded.

In 2021, Carlos Eichelmann participated in this same project in the seventh edition of Impulso Morelia, which presents to a professional audience an exclusive program of Mexican feature films in post-production, with the aim of giving them international visibility.
