Te Prometo Anarquía by Julio Hernández Cordón at the 13th FICM

The film Te prometo anarquía / I Promise You Anarchy (2015) by Mexican director Julio Hernández Cordón was presented as part of the Mexican Feature Film Section in competition of the 13th FICM.

The film was written by Hernández himself, and he worked with the outstanding cinematographer María José Secco. The music consists of songs by bands like Jazz Bandana, Los estrambóticos, Three Souls in My Mind, among others. David Calva and Eduardo Martínez are the main actors in the film.

I Promise You Anarchy is about two young men who are friends and lovers. They’ve known each other since childhood and spend their time skating with their friends in the streets of Mexico City. They sell their own blood and find donors for the black market. A major blood transaction goes badly for everyone involved.

Later, I Promise You Anarchy premiered at a gala event with a red carpet and the presence of the director Julio Hernández Cordón, actors Eduardo Martínez, Diego Calva and Erwin Alvarado, as well as Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas Batel, vice president of FICM, who said:

Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas Batel on the presence of Julio Hernández at FICM:
“I’m very pleased to receive a director who returns to the festival. With his work Las marimbas del infierno he won the Best Feature Film Award in 2010 and we’re certain that this film is very good, so feel proud to be here today.”

Julio Hernández Cordón about his film:
“I feel very honored to be part of this festival for the second time, especially because I’m with people I know and love, people with whom I shared space in film school. The film crew deserve an applause because more than that they’re friends, and they are the soul of the film. Without them, just as they are, this film could not have been made.”

Julio Hernández on skateboarding in the film:
“The subject of skateboarding I think is important because it reminds me of adolescence, a very important stage for me.”

Diego Calva on his acting in the film:
“Neither Eduardo nor I are professional actors. Julio contacted us on Facebook and from there we began dealing with each other and getting to know one another, until we went through several stages of casting. One was that everyone had to kiss each other. I kissed a lot of people, but not as many as Eduardo who kissed half of Mexico City (laughter). Julio chose those who kissed best. At the end when we were shooting he told us instead of acting that we should have fun.”
