A Season with Isabella Rossellini is a portrait of the actress as an artist, farmer, author and inspiration that unveils Isabella Rossellini's unique charm and curiosity. We see her in Italy on the set of Alice Rohrwacher's La Chimera; rehearsing her monologue, Darwin's Smile, in France and Spain; filming a commercial in Los Angeles on her 70th birthday and back home to shear sheep with eco-conscious fashion designers.

Festival founder and General Director Daniela Michel said she learned about the documentary during a visit to the Il Cinema Ritrovato Festival in Bologna, where she regularly is Lacombe's armchair companion.

"She told me about this documentary she made with Isabella Rossellini. As you can imagine, it has an impressive story to tell, and Marian's perspective on it is really very unique," said Daniela Michel.

The movie also touches on her cinematic lineage, as she is the daughter of Ingrid Bergman and Roberto Rossellini, and on her relationship with Martin Scorsese and David Lynch.

Director Marian Lacombe said that while Isabella Rossellini is known as an actress, model, writer and filmmaker, her facet as a farmer is the focus of the documentary, which was presented last week at the Rome Film Festival.

"More than 10 years ago she bought a piece of land in New York State, where she now lives (...) as she was always very interested in animal behavior, she went back to school to pursue a master's degree in Ethology and now writes in a very humorous way about the life and love life of animals," Lacombe said.
