Copilot by Anne Zohra Berrached at the 19th FICM

The Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), in collaboration with the Goethe Institut Mexiko, presented the feature Copilot (Die Welt wird eine andere sein), by Anne Zohra Berrached, a film that had its premiere at the Berlinale.

Copilot tells the story of students Asli and Saeed, a Turkish-Arab couple settled in East Germany in the 1990s, who decide to get married in a Hamburg mosque despite opposition from Asli's mother. They promise to stay together and keep each other's secrets. Asli tries to find her way between self-determination, her traditional home, and her selfless love, but Saeed disappears. His decision will change Asli's life before shaking the entire world.
