Queer Palm Lab Announces Call for Entries for its First Edition

The Queer Palm Lab offers filmmakers working on their first feature film project with queer themes and/or characters the opportunity for a one-year mentorship, including a residency period.

The first five projects will be selected during the 2024 Cannes Film Festival and then presented to film industry professionals during the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.

Belgian filmmaker Lukas Dhont will serve as godfather to this first Queer Palm Lab call.

"The Queer Palm team is proud, 13 years after the award was created in Cannes, to position itself as a talent incubator and a gateway for emerging filmmakers, eager to tell queer-themed stories in the film industry. We are eager to receive projects from around the world and very happy to support the selected films for the next few years," said Franck Finance-Madureira, founding president of the Queer Palm.

The Queer Palm team is still looking for sponsors to complete the funding round of the project. This call is supported by the French Ministry of Culture and Titrafilm. Entries will be open from November 3, 2023, to January 31, 2024, at https://queerpalm.org/en/queer-palm-lab/.
