10 · 20 · 13 Special screening of Heli by Amat Escalante Share with twitter Share with facebook Share with mail Copy to clipboard At the end of the first day of the 11th FICM, and one day before its premiere in Morelia, Heli was officially presented, in celebration of the 15 years of the production company Mantarraya. Daniela Michel, general director of the festival, welcomed the production team – Jaime Romandía, producer, Gabriel Reyes, scriptwriter, Lorenzo Hagerman, photographer, and thedirector, Amat Escalante – all who attended the event. Michel said she was honored to present the film because Amat Escalante is one of the directors she most admires and without a doubt Heli was one of her favorites. She also congratulated Mantarraya for its 15-year anniversary and mentioned that having received the Best Director award at the Cannes Festival for two consecutive years (Amat Escalante for Heli in 2013 and Carlos Reygadas for Post Tenebras Lux in 2012) was an impressive achievement. The director said he was very happy to be in Morelia to present his film and that he was shocked to see such a packed theater, despite the fact that the event started at 11 pm. He mentioned that because of the late screening there would be no question-and-answer session afterwards, but anyone could ask him questions if they ran into him in Morelia during the festival.
