Daniela Michel stressed the importance of having a director the caliber of Olivier Assayas for the second time at FICM. "He is glorious in French cinema and a film lover par excellence." Olivier was grateful for the recognition and mentioned being happy to be in Morelia and to be part of this new edition of FICM, remembering when he presented his movie Après mai (2012) in the 10th edition of the festival.

The director added, "Irma Vep is a film I made a long time ago (1996) and it was a kind of turning point for my career because I allowed myself a lot of freedom regarding the rules that I had imposed on myself. It was the first time I was attempting a movie that had a comedy tone, so you can laugh a lot in this screening. "

Irma Vep tells the story of a Chinese film actress who travels to France to star in a new version of the Les Vampires film series (1915, dir. Louis Feuillade) and finds small intrigues and ego conflicts on set.
