Arturo Castelán Mutt, winner of the 2023 Mariposa Award, follows the story of Feña, a trans man who finds it easier to simply cut all ties with his past after transitioning. Dealing with the changes was painful and his family's reaction made it even more so. But when Feña runs into an ex-boyfriend, receives an unexpected visit from his little sister, and meets a Chilean father who tries to reconnect with him, their lives suddenly become intertwined once again. Present during the presentation were Arturo Castelán, director of MIX Mexico Film Festival; Alfonso Escandón, deputy director of MIX; and Daniela Michel, founder and general director of FICM, who thanked the audience for attending the screening and praised the professionalism and excellence shown by this festival dedicated to LGBTQIA+ films. Arturo Castelán, Daniela Michel Arturo Castelán thanked FICM and Daniela Michel for their empathy and for being his "great inspiration and teacher," who since 1998, with the Jornadas de Cortometraje Mexicano, has supported sexually diverse cinema. According to Castelán, the film was awarded by the jury for being considered "a film that managed to take queer narratives to a special level, where the filmmaker tells a story with emotion, maturity and strength that comes not only from his characters but from all the people involved in this production. For an intelligent perspective that does not victimize or romanticize the main character and shows the story of a trans man and the vicissitudes of his daily life."
