Film director, producer, and screenwriter. She got her start in theater before she shifted to film directing. Her debut feature, The Chambermaid, premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival and the San Sebastián International Film Festival that same year. Since then, the film has screened at over 60 festivals around the world and won numerous international prizes, including: the Warrior of the Press Award for best fiction film and best Mexican feature at the 2018 Morelia International Film Festival; the Jury Prize at the 2018 Marrakech International Film Festival; the Jury Special Coral Award for best debut at the 2018 Havana Film Festival; the Minsk FIPRESCI Prize for best debut at the 2018 Minsk International Film Festival “Listapad”; best Ibero-American debut director at the 2018 Orquídea de Cuenca Film Festival; an honorable mention for the CV Cine Award at the 2019 Palm Springs International Film Festival; the New Directors Prize at the 2019 San Francisco International Film Festival; best new director at the 2019 Portland Film Festival; the Golden Hummingbird for best film at the 2019 Festival Rencontres of South American Film of Marseille; the Radio Exterior Prize of Spain and the Casa de Amèrica Catalunya Prize for best screenplay at the 2019 Latin American Film Festival of Catalonia; best director at the 2019 Zabaikalsky International Film Festival; the Jaguar Award for best new director at the 2019 Tucson Cine Mexico; the Jury Prize for best debut at the 2019 Lima Film Festival; the Jury Award at the 2019 World Cinema Amsterdam; and the Ariel for best debut awarded by the Mexican Academy of Film Arts and Sciences in 2019.
The Chambermaid was selected to represent Mexico at both the Oscar® and the Goya Awards.
