Jean-Pierre García is a critic and film historian, he founded the Amiens International Film Festival in France, and directed that festival from 1980 to 2011. The festival, which screens films from around the world, plays a very important role in supporting young directors from Africa, Asia and Latin America. García also worked on the book Luz, cámara, acción: cinefotógrafos mexicanos and created the Amiens Film Festival Screenplay Development Fund in 1996. He has been a member of and has presided over several international juries in Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America. He is an expert in financial and support policies for films in the southern hemisphere.
