Iván Giroud presentó MEMORIAS DEL SUBDESARROLLO Iván Giroud.

Iván Giroud was enthusiastic before a packed room, "It's a pleasure to see such a crowded room and especially young people who will be seeing this movie for the first time. Others have surely seen it already and are here to revisit it. "

He also stressed the importance of the film by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, since he considers it a fundamental work of Cuban cinema: "He mixes elements of documentary cinema with fiction, he uses news elements as well, for which he has a formal freedom that was only possible at that time (...) it is a work that talks about the present and the future at the same time".

Memorias del Subdesarrollo takes place after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, where a frustrated bourgeois writer is left alone in Havana after his family and friends leave for the United States. The confusion caused a revolutionary process with which he agrees with, but is unable to adapt to, serves as a motor for a deep and lucid reflection on the situation of the Caribbean country, suspended at the time in a complex process of reorganization.
