The film Hasta el último trago corazón was screened at this event, which was attended by Daniela Michel, General Director of the FICM, and the film’s director. Columbian writer Fernando Vallejo, who received a tribute at the First Morelia Film Festival, and Chilean filmmaker Raul Ruiz, this year’s guest of honor, where also there. The public seemed satisfied at the end of the screening. Gomez’s film, competing for the title of Best Documentary, is a film about seven talented Mexican singers: Chavela Vargas, Lila Downs, La Negra Graciana, Chayito Valdez, Astrid Hadad, Iraida Noriega, and Eugenia León. Gomez said that he made this documentary because he “kept trying to persuade people to make a film on these Mexican singers, until someone suggested I do it. I liked the idea, so here it is.”
