It was a moving ceremony at Teatro Ocampo. Damián Alcazar was the master of ceremony, this event started with a brief speech by Lic. Carlos Macouzet Zamacona Presidente Municipal de Morelia:“Good afternoon to everyone and welcome to this festival whose purpose is to launch real productions, this is a crucible of good films, we saw six Mexican long feature films, 45 short films and 16 documentaries, where we could see promising ideals. I would like to thank Daniela Michel for being so sensitive and having so much solidarity in developing this industry, so we can transcend, quality wise. I wish the filmmakers continue developing their art, and I hope they keep on broadcasting it. All of us, people from Morelia welcome you and we hope to see you next year.” After wards Lic. Lázaro Cárdenas Batel, the governor said: “I wish to thank all of you for coming here and for being part of the 5th Festival. It was a complete success. This festival is very important for Mexico and the whole world, so congratulations to everyone, and thank you very much, we hope that you continue with your great efforts in filming. We did right in supporting this event, this cultural event is now part of us, and the public and the world. We hope to enjoy this festival for many years. Thank you all. The magic we find in films will always surprise us.” Later on Alcazar summoned Alejandro Ramírez, FICM’s president; Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas and Daniela Michel to accompany him on stage. Michel announced: “I’d like to thank everyone, thank you Mr. governor Lázaro Cárdenas for supporting this festival. Without you this wouldn’t have been possible.” [imagen]Marina de Tavira was the first actress to go on stage in order to award the Morelialab prices. In this workshop, which is the third one of its kind, 31 young producers from 14 different countries worked together. “During six intense days we worked with renown special guests, we discussed several aspects about producing and we also did a pitching exercise, so the young people’s project could look their best. Thanks to Instituto Mexicano de Cinematografía and Cinépolis we will award the young people who were part of the Morelia Lab.” The jury was made up of Cristina Prado, Richard Ham and Pablo Baksht. The IMCINE “Morelia Lab-Joven Productor Mexicano” award went to:• Jessica Villegas, for VENENUM, she was awarded $30,000 pesos.• Georgina Calvillo, for Amor a muerte, she was awarded $10,000 pesos.• Blanca Álvarez, for Se busca donador, she was awarded $10,000 pesos. The CINÉPOLIS “Morelia Lab-Joven Productor Latinoamericano” award was as follows:• Virginia Giacosa, from Argentina, she was awarded $20,000 pesos, for David y el gran río.• Suzana Markus, from Brazil, she was awarded $15,000 pesos for El hombre de la cabeza de cartón.• Roddy Pérez, from Dominican Republic, he was awarded $15,000 pesos for Pití. Afterwards Tavira gave out the Michoacan awards:• Michoacan contest for short film script: Santo Satán, written by David Sánchez Zacarías.• Honorable mention to Los días sin Joyce by Ana Soler and Oso Tapia• Best Michoacan short film feature to Raúl Máxima for Axuni Atari. Then Martha Higareda awarded:• Best SMS Movistar Documentary to Paul Grivas and Eugene Zapata for Angahuan• Best long feature film to Quemar las naves by Francisco Franco.
