At the 20th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), the documentary Endangered (2022) was presented by Heidi Ewing, one of the directors, and Sáshenka Gutiérrez, the journalist whose story is told throughout the film.

Freedom of expression is a fundamental right for people, unfortunately, it has become a double-edged sword for journalists, researchers and other people dealing with transparency in the press in many countries around the world.

This was clear to Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing, directors of Endangered (2022), a documentary that shows how newsrooms close, misinformation proliferates, and world leaders repress freedom of expression.

Endangered closely follows the stories of Patrícia, Oliver, Carl, and Sáshenka, journalists working in the United States, Mexico, and Brazil. Countries where there supposedly is a "current and correct" legislation regarding issues of freedom of expression and the right to information.

“It is always a great pleasure to share my work here in Morelia, I‘ve been attending for many years. This film deals with a very important issue here in Mexico and around the world: the freedom of the press,” Ewing said before the screening began.

At the end of the film, the director took part in a Q&A session with the audience.
