Meeting of Mexican Filmmakers 2013

The Meeting of Mexican Filmmakers 2013 brings together Mexican talent: young creators, esteemed directors, producers and distributors who during five days of dialogue will discuss their views on contemporary Mexican cinema and its future. In addition, we will have the presence of special guests of the 11th FICM such as Alejandro Jodorowsky, John Sayles and Edward James Olmos. Also attending will be programmers of important international film festivals, who will share information on promotional strategies for projects and films.

For those who are not in Morelia, the meeting will be transmitted live via our website from 11 am to 1 pm. Don’t miss it!

Monday, October 21:

Mexico and Independent Cinema in the United States: The link between the Mexican film industry and U.S. independent cinema will be discussed at this meeting. The experience of important film professionals who have participated in bi-national production projects will be shared.

New Talent: The Short Film in Mexico: Young talents, the future of Mexican cinema, will reflect on the current panorama of the production of short films in Mexico. They will talk about their work (in competition in the 11th FICM) and on the creative process of the art of cinematography.

Practical advice, description of profiles, selection processes and preferences of the various festivals will be discussed at this meeting.

Master Conference with Alejandro Jodorowsky: It is an honor for FICM and the Meeting of Mexican Filmmakers to have the presence of a filmmaker whose unique vision has established him as a cult director and an obligatory reference in the history of cinema.

Diversity of the Proposals in Mexican Cinema: Dialogue between directors whose recent works have been well received by the public and/or critics, who recognize the wealth of proposals and visions of contemporary cinema in our country.
