FICM Launches Mexican Filmmaker Directory

The Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), whose 12th edition will be held from October 17 to 26, 2014, is pleased to announce the launching of the FICM Mexican Filmmaker Directory, which consists of a data base of the directors who have participated in the official competition of the Morelia International Film Festival or who have premiered a Mexican film at the festival since its beginning in 2003 up to 2014. The project involved more than a year of investigation and development.

The objective of the FICM Mexican Filmmaker Directory is to create a consulting tool and a valuable reference for any person, particularly for those interested in Mexican filmmakers who have emerged in the past 12 years, and whose data is still not easily accessible on line.

The directory has more than 800 short biographies of Mexican directors and includes information such as:

  • Photo
  • Date and place of birth
  • Brief biography
  • Works by the director presented at FICM
  • Other activities carried out by the director in films presented at FICM
  • News related to the director

Daniela Michel, general director of FICM, said: “Taking into consideration the importance of the festival as a unique platform to promote Mexican film, we thought it was necessary to make a data base of all the directors who have participated in FICM and in that manner continue building networks of support and outreach for national cinema. We now realize that there are more than 800 filmmakers who have shown their work at the festival, which makes us very pleased because it shows the significance of the work of the festival. I think the FICM Mexican Filmmaker Directory is a very important and necessary tool.”

The FICM Mexican Filmmaker Directory will be constantly updated and will continue to grow each year. The directory can be consulted at: www.directoriorealizadoresficm.com/en/
