The 16th FICM will present a retrospective and a photographic exhibition in honor of cinematographer Alex Phillips
In its 16th edition, the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), with the invaluable support of Fundación Televisa, Cineteca Nacional, UNAM’s Film Library, the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE), Carlos Vasallo (VasalloVision) and Viviana García Besné (Permanencia Voluntaria), will hold a retrospective in honor of cinematographer Alex Phillips. Furthermore, the photographic exhibition Alex Phillips, Builder of Atmospheres, made up of images from the Televisa Foundation archive, will be presented at the festival, which will take place from the 20th to 28th of October 2018.
The program will feature films made between 1931 and 1973, including the first movie he photographed in Mexico —Santa (1931, dir. Antonio Moreno)— and the last —El castillo de la pureza (1973, dir. Arturo Ripstein).
