The film takes place in a fictional Mexico, where criminals control the country and make wrestling illegal. Using black humor, the movie tells the story of retired wrestler El Halcón and a policewoman who join forces to rescue his son from kidnappers. "It's a tribute to all the wrestling movies of the seventies and eighties. The truth is, although we are reinventing the Mexican superhero, it's a universal story of the love between a father and a son," said Eduardo Valenzuela.
