Doris Metz Presented her Documentary PETRA KELLY - ACT NOW! at the 22nd FICM

As a founding member of the Green Party, Petra Kelly was instrumental in shaping the political discourse in West Germany in the 1980s. But who exactly was this person who brought hundreds of thousands into the streets to protest against the stationing of nuclear missiles? Using previously unpublished footage and interviews, this film portrays a political visionary who didn't let anyone stop her.

Doris Metz was just a teenager when she learned about Petra Kelly and her slogans and causes began to resonate with her. Speaking after the screening, she said that the politician and activist was a woman ahead of her time, whose message for the rights of nature, nuclear disarmament and social justice stood in stark contrast to the highly patriarchal Germany of the time.

The director and former journalist wanted to recover this emblematic figure of German politics in the 1980s from oblivion.
