As part of the same section the IFFR will present Dólares de arena / Sand Dollars, directed by Israel Cárdenas and Laura Amelia Guzmán and starring Geraldine Chaplin, who was a Special Guest at the 10th edition of FICM in 2012. This co-production between Argentina, Mexico and the Dominican Republic competed in the Official Selection at the 12th FICM, where it garnered a Special Mention from that year’s feature film jury. Jauja, a Mexican/Danish/US/Argentine co-production, directed by Argentine director Lisando Alonso, will compete for the Big Screen Award in the Spectrum section of the IFFR. In this section, the festival celebrates works by experimental directors who have made essential contributions to cinema culture.
