Mexican Short Film Online: Mateo y el cine
Mateo y el cine / Mateo and Cinema, a short film by Luis Felipe Hernández Alanís, which was part of the Official Selection at the 13th FICM and participated in the Online Short Film Selection, is now available online permanently on the FICM YouTube channel.
Originally from Jiutepec, Morelos, Luis Felipe Henrández Alanís is a self-taught animator who has made several short films and videos, all using stop-motion. His independent productions have participated in numerous festivals, including the Morelia International Film Festival, where he has presented five works: Sphere (2005), winner of the award for Best Short Animation; Coma (2006); Azul hiel lúgubre néctar (2007); Martyris (2010), and Mateo and Cinema (2015).
In Mateo and Cinema, a young boy receives help from his family to develop his artistic potential. Mateo learns how to make animated cinema using his own drawings. See below for the full short film.
