11 · 06 · 12 Press conference with Pablo Delgado Sánchez, director of Las lágrimas Share with twitter Share with facebook Share with mail Copy to clipboard Delgado got funding for his first picture independently, with the support of the CCC, "because the graduation projects tend to be short films," he said. Las lágrimas, the winning project of the Carte Blanche section at the Locarno Film Festival, was filmed in super 16mm format. "One of the pecularities of the film is that there was no script," he said. "I called it an outline or 25-page story without dialogues. The interaction of the actors was improvised." Las lagrimas is the story of Fernando and Gabriel, two brothers who live in a broken home, which drives them to escape one weekend to the woods. Fernando Álvarez Rebeil and Gabriel Santoyo Navidad are the main characters in the film. Gabriel Santoyo said that making Las lágrimas was "a very beautiful experience that I would do again." Fernando Álvarez explained that it is the first feature that he has appeared in. "The communication between Pablo and I was always very clear and the scenes flowed rapidly," he said. "Before beginning to film we had a couple of rehearsals at CCC and we worked on the scenes. Pablo presented the situation and we played with it." Delgado always had Álvarez in mind for the part, but for the part of Gabriel we held an audition which had quick results. "Gabriel was the second boy that tried out and from the first moment he and Fernando hit it off," the director said. Claudette Mallé was the third character in the triangle, "someone who I wanted to work with very much," he added. Las lágrimas will screen on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 4 pm at Cinépolis Centro Morelia.
