Angeles Castro Gurria

Studied acting and stage directing at the UNAM’s University Theater Center. She acted in university plays, student shorts, and TV programs. She directed several stage productions and won the Best Newcomer Prize from the Mexican Association of Theater Critics. She directed the Center for Film Training for eleven years. Since 1985, she has taught groups of acting and cinematography students. She coordinated the acting workshop for the film Like Water for Chocolate, by Alfonso Arau, and served as an acting coach for Chicogrande, by Felipe Cazals. She was recently made director of the UNAM’s National School of Film Arts.
