The story is based on the novel of the same name by Mexican writer Juan Pablo Villalobos, who, after receiving a doctoral scholarship to study in Barcelona, becomes entangled in a criminal network that finally inspires him to write the novel he always wanted, while his life takes increasingly absurd and sinister turns. Alexis Ayala, Natalia Solián, Darío Yazbek Bernal, Fernando Frías de la Parra, Arturo Sampson During the conference, the director said he read the book in 2017 in the middle of the filming process of Ya no estoy aquí (2019), since production was paused several times when actor Juan Daniel García Treviño was denied a Visa on three occasions. "There is no formula for adapting something, the source material leads you and dictates the path. In this case, the admiration I had for this work dictated the path too," he added. The film is currently part of the Official Selection of FICM 2023 and will be available on Netflix from November 22.
