Image Cecchetti, Federico He studied Film at the University Center for Film Studies (CUEC-UNAM), and he participated in a student exchange program at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, Italy. In 2010 he was part of the Berlinale Talent Campus organized by the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale). In 2016 he was part of the Filmmakers Academy of the 69th edition of the Festival del film Locarno, and of the Mexicannes program of the Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF). He has directed eight short films, among which stand out El maléfico Dr. Machete (2005), part of the Official Selection of the São Paulo International Short Film Festival - Curta Kinoforum; Raíces (2007), part of the Official Selection of the 22nd Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG); and Transhumantes (2009), part of the Official Selection of the 7th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) and of the 5th São Paulo Latin American Film Festival, among others. Transhumanteswas also nominated for the Ariel Award for Best Short Film; it was shown at a special screening at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival after having won the 2011 Kodak Film School Competition, and in a another special screening at the Festival del film Locarno as part of Filmmakers Academy 2016. He wrote and developed his second project, Cartas desde el país de los tarahumaras, at the Residénce del Cinéfondation program of the Cannes Film Festival.
