Permar, José

He studied Visual Arts at the Image and Sound Department of the Guadalajara University in Mexico. He has been director, screenwriter, director of photography, editor and sound designer of diverse productions such as Afuera (2014), Best Short Fiction Film at the Neo-Mex section of the Shorts Mexico international film festival. His short documentary film, co-directed with Omar Robles, Aurelia y Pedro(2016), part of the Official Selection of the 14th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), received a Special Mention from the Jury at the 2016 Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale); it won Best Short Documentary Film at the Festival Internacional de Cine del Desierto (FICD), in Mexico; and the CILECT Best Short Film Award at the Latin American Film Festival in São Paulo, Brazil. Aurelia y Pedro (2016) was also selected at the Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF), Mexico, and at the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG), Mexico, among others. He is a founding member of the independent film production company Tardígrada. He is currently in development of the project Off the Road, feature length documentary selected at Docunexión Mx 2016, organized by the International Documentary Film Festival of Mexico City (DocsDF), in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Mexiko and the Dok.Fest München, in Germany.
