He also studied philosophy at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and received a master’s degree in filmmaking at the Tisch School of the Arts (TSOA), New York University (NYU). He obtained the Support for Foreign Studies grant from the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA), from 2008 to 2011, and a scholarship from the TSOA of New York, from 2010 to 2012. Breve cuento sobre la aparición espontánea de un árbol imaginario (2007) also won First Place at the 1st Speak Out Against Domestic Violence Short Film Competition, Mexico; First Place at the 3rd Unifest: International University Film Festival, Fuenlabrada, Madrid, Spain; and the Audience Award at the 4th International Short Film Festival Cine a las Calles, Mexico. His spec comercial for Axe, Assume the consequences, was a finalist in the 6th AICP Show & Next Awards, United States. He received in 2012 the ARRI Volker Bahnemann award for cinematography for the collection of his work, given by ARRI CSC, New York. His short fiction film Batallas latentes (2014) is part of the Official Selection of the 12th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM).
