Image Curiel de Icaza; Álvaro He studied cinematography at the CCC film school in Mexico City and theater at the Ricardo Rojas Cultural Center, Buenos Aires, Argentina. His work has been shown at numerous film screenings and festivals around the world, including two editions of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM). He participated in the 2nd FICM with his short fiction film Si un instante (2003), winner of the “Courtoujours” award at the 17th Toulouse Latin American Film Festival, France. He won the Best “Cineminuto” award in the competition “Volvo en un minuto” at the 10th Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF). His first feature film Acorazado (2009) won the Audience Award at the 8th FICM; Best First Film and Best Screenplay at the 17th Lleida Latin American Film Festival, Catalonia; and a nomination for an Ariel for Best Screenplay at the 52nd Ariel Awards, Mexico. This film also participated in the 33rd International Festival of New Latin American Film, Havana, Cuba; the 26th Mar del Plata International Film Festival in Argentina; and the 20th Biarritz Festival of Latin American Cinema and Cultures, France, among others.
