Image Irabien, Daniel He studied communication at the Anáhuac Mayab University, Mérida, Mexico. He received a grant from the Promotion Program and Cultural Co-Investments of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA), Mexico, to make his children’s radio program Radionautas (2005-2006), for which he received an Honorable Mention in the category of Fiction at the 6th Bienal Internacional de Radio, organized by the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP), the National Council for Culture and the Arts (CONACULTA) and Radio Educación, Mexico. His animated short film El maestro y la flor (2014) was part of the Official Selection of the 12th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) and has also participated in the 9th Busan International Kids’ Film Festival (BiKi), Republic of Korea; the 17th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF), Popular Republic of China; and the 5th One Country One Film, Apchat International Film Festival, France, among others. He won for this film the Silver Goddess Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 43rd Silver Goddess Awards, Mexico, and a Special Mention for Best National Production at the 19th International Film Festival for Children (…and not so children), “La Matatena,” Mexico City.
