Image Ortiz Maciel; Adrián He studied cinematography at the CCC film school in Mexico City. In addition, he has taken courses and workshops in film, including a class in film and television screenwriting at the International Center of Film and Television Screenwriting (CIGCITE), Mexico City; workshops on film appreciation, screenwriting and film language at the Center of Audiovisual Art (CAAV), Guadalajara, Jalisco; a course on film and television screenwriting at the Septima Ars Film and Digital TV School, Madrid, Spain; and a film program at the LENS School of Visual Arts, Madrid. He received a grant from the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA) on two occasions, 2008-2009 and 2011-2012. He participated in three editions of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM). In the 3rd FICM, he competed with his documentary short films Subterráneos (2005) and La luna en la tierra (2005). He won the Best Work from the Michoacán Section award at the 7th FICM for his short fiction film Nebraska (2009). His documentary short film Itaca received a Special Mention for the José Rovirosa 2009 Award of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) at the 4th International Documentary Film Festival of Mexico City (DocsDF). His first feature film, Elevador (2013), won a Special Mention at the 11th FICM; the Zapata Award for Best Mexican Documentary at the 7th Iberoamerican Documentary Film Festival of Memory, Cuernavaca; and an Honorable Mention at the 8th Independent Hispanic American Film and Video Festival, “All Voices Against the Silence,” in Mexico City. The project for this film – in its post-production stage – won the Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma Scholarship at the 7th Ambulante Documentary Tour, Mexico.
