Segovia Juárez, Alicia

She studied communication at the University of De La Salle Bajío and cinematography at the CUEC-UNAM film school in Mexico City. Her work has been shown at more than 10 festivals around the world. She won the award for Best Documentary at the 1st Hazficciarte Student Short Film Festival, Mexico City, for her short film Solicitud (2009). She participated in the 1st UNAM International Film Festival (FICUNAM), Mexico, and in the 39th International Film Festival of Huesca, Spain, among others, with her short fiction film Andrea (2010), for which she received the London Film Academy scholarship and the Muse Award from the Women In Film and Television Association at the 13th Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF). Her short film Casa cuna (2010) was nominated for an Ariel for Best Documentary Short Film at the 53rd Ariel Awards, Mexico, and received an Honorable Mention for the José Rovirosa Award of the UNAM Film Archives. She participated, among other festivals, in the 53rd Critics’ Week at Cannes with her short fiction film Jerusalén (2013), which won the Studio 5 de Mayo Special Award at the 11th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) and Best Film at the 14th aluCine Latin Film + Media Arts Festival, Canada.
