Image Ortiz Urquidi, Moisés He studied cinematography at the CCC film school in Mexico City, where he also taught theory of film editing. Early in his career, he worked as a directors’ assistant with various directors, including Arturo Ripstein, María Novaro and Tomás Gutiérrez Alea. He has directed several series for Argos TV, HBO and Cadena Tres, among other television channels, including the 2nd and 3rd seasons of Capadocia (2010-2012) and Las Aparicio (2010). His work has been presented at numerous festivals and film screenings around the world, including three editions of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM). He won the Golden Crocodile Prize for Best Original Score at the Nimes International Film and Student Film Directors Festival, France, in 1991, for his short fiction film Cuantas viejas quieras (1990), which was exhibited, among other festivals, at the 33rd Bilbao International Documentary and Short Film Festival – Zinebi and at the 14th Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, France. At the 3rd FICM he presented his short fiction film Cita en el paraíso (1992), which was also exhibited at the 9th FICM as part of the tribute to Damián Alcázar. This film received various national and international awards, including the Golden Colón for Best Short Film at the 19th Iberoamerican Film Festival of Huelva, Spain; the OCIC at the 8th Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG); and the Ariel Award for Best Short Fiction Film at the 35th Ariel Awards, Mexico. At the 3rd FICM his documentary short film El río no era cuadrado (1987) was exhibited as part of the 30 Years of the CCC special program. This film won First Place at the National Documentary and Short Film Festival in Villahermosa, Tabasco, in 1987. He is currently working in postproduction of his first feature film Las Aparicio.
