Martínez; Edin Alain

He studied Audiovisual Media at the Audiovisual Arts Center (CAAV) in Guadalajara, Mexico. He was awarded the 2009 Zacatecas State Youth Prize for outstanding artistic activities.

In 2006, he was a fellow of the Support Program for Municipal and Community Cultures (PACMyC) for the realization of the Narry project. He was a Fellow of the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE) in 2008 and 2009 for writing the script and developing the project La tierra mágica del peyote. He also received a scholarship in the screenwriting program of the Macabro Lab at the 11th Macabro International Horror Film Festival of Mexico City.

He has presented his work in four editions of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM). He participated in the 2nd FICM and in the 8th Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) with his short documentary Bracho (2004).  Burrito de aguamiel (2006) was in competition at the 5th FICM and at the 14th Cinesul Iberoamerican Film and Video Festival, Río de Janeiro. He participated with his documentary, Narry (2008), in the 6th FICM and in the 7th FENACO International Short Film Festival, in Peru. With Todo se vale (2012) he participated in the 10th FICM and in the 7th International Short Film Festival of Mexico, Short Shorts México.

He was awarded the Jury Prize at the 7th International Film Festival and Human Rights Forum of Mexico, DHFest, for his documentary debut Salaverna (2013), which was also part of the Official Selection of the 8th Mexico City International Documentary Film Festival (DocsDF), the 9th Monterrey International Film Festival (FIC Monterrey) and the International Film Festival with Gender Perspective (MICGénero) 2015. His short film, La Colette (2015), was part of the Official Selection of the Pachuca International Short Film Festival, Fresnillo Film Festival in Zacatecas, and Panoramic: Independent Film Show in Mexico City. In addition, he was awarded Best International Documentary Short Film at the Santo Domingo Women in Short International Festival (FEMUJER) 2016, in the Dominican Republic.

His fiction short, La casa de los juguetes, was the Official Selection of the Gore Bizarro Terror International Festival in Valparaiso, Chile, and its extension in Montevideo, Uruguay, and won 3rd place in the short film contest of the second Zacatecan Film Show. In addition, it was official selection of the Macabro International Horror Film Festival of Mexico City in 2016. It was also an official selection of the VAS A GRITAR International Film Festival in Xochimilco 2016, Official Selection of the Tenebra Film Fest in Guadalajara 2016, the Buenos Aires Red Blood Festival in Argentina 2016, U Horror Film Festival in the United States 2017, Tequila International Film Festival 2017, Cecehachero Film Fest in Mexico City 2017, Cultural Festival of Ate and Nawal Cinema in Monterrey 2017, and a finalist of 13HORROR.COM FILM & SCREENPLAY CONTEST in the United States in 2017.
