He received the State Youth Award (Art and Culture) in 2010 from the Michoacán government for his work as a filmmaker. His short documentary film Aún nos queda el recuerdo (2012) was shown at film screenings and festivals around the world, including the 52nd Toulouse Latin American Film Festival, France; the 52nd Critics’ Week at the Cannes Film Festival, France; the 21st San Diego Latino Film Festival (SDLFF), United States; and the 10th BORDOCS Tijuana Documentary Forum, Mexico. He received a Special Mention at the 10th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) and the Post-Production Short Film grant from the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE) for Aún nos queda el recuerdo. His short documentary film El sudor de la agonía / The Wear of Agony was shown at the 10th Monterrey International Film Festival (FIC Monterrey); at the 69th Edinburgh International Film Festival; and at the 10th DocsDF. El sudor de la agonía also won the Award for Best Documentary Short Film at the 12th FICM, and it was nominated for Best Direction of Photography in a Short Film at the CAMERIMAGE International Film Festival in Poland. His latest work, La Esquina del Mundo (2016), is part of the Official Selection of the 14th FICM.

In the 2017 edition of FICM, he participates with Central Transitoria in the Mexican Documentary Short Film Section.
