Image Aguirre, Salvador He studied film directing at the CCC film school in Mexico City. He was a member of the National System of Art Creators at the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA), Mexico, from 2004 to 2007. His work has participated in more than 30 film showings and festivals around the world, including two editions of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM). At the 1st FICM, he presented his short fiction films De ida y vuelta (2003) and De Mesmer, con amor o té para dos (2002), the last one in co-direction with Alejandro Lubezki. For the first film, he received, among other awards, the Mayahuel for Best Picture at the 15th Guadalajara International Film Festival; the FIPRESCI International Critics’ prize for Best Picture from Latin America at the 16th Mar del Plata International Film Festival in Argentina; the Audience Award for Best Picture at the 2nd Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Film Festival (LPA Film Festival), Spain; and four nominations at the 43rd Ariel Awards Ceremony, Mexico: Best First Film, Best Photography, Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor. De Mesmer, con amor o té para dos won the Audience Award at the 10th Latin Film Festival, Tubinga, Germany; the Special Jury Award at the 47th Valladolid International Film Festival Seminci, Spain; and the Grand Prix, Petit Rail d’Or, Prix Canal +, Prix Kodak and Prix Creative Valley awards at the 41st Critics’ Week at the Cannes Film Festival, France, among others. He won the 11th National Competition of Short Film Projects of the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE), to make his short fiction film Dentro de uno (2012) that competed at the 10th FICM.
