The film portrays the life of Martijn, a foreigner who has lived in a quiet town in Mexico for two decades. In that time, Martín, as he is known, started a family. But upon learning that his son's murderer has been released from prison, he decides to get revenge.

"Martinj was a complicated character: he had to be northern European to have this contrast of cultures and personality traits; of the cold and the warm of the Mexican. We spoke a lot with him about the screenplay so that Martinj could get into character," the director explained.

Martinj Kuiper noted that, compared to other countries where the origin of the character must be justified, in Mexico it is easier to play a foreigner: "Here, the guy is from somewhere and nobody knows where that is and it is not necessary to explain it."

Starring Martinj Kuiper, Andrés Almeida and Iazua Larios, Ricochet is on the list of Mexican fiction feature films in competition at the festival.

It will be available for free at Cinépolis KLIC for 24 hours starting October 29 at 7:00 p.m.
