The 2019 Morelia / IMCINE – Locarno Industry Academy International workshop announces its participants

 

- The workshop is made up by eight young proffesionals of the film industry.

- The Industry Academy will be held from October 20 to 23, in Morelia.

 

The Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), which will hold its seventeenth edition in October, 2019, is pleased to announce the participants of the Morelia / IMCINE - Locarno Industry Academy International workshop, which will be held from October 20 to 23.

The workshop is an initiative organized by the Morelia International Film Festival in collaboration with the Locarno Film Festival and the support of the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE) as well as the Ibermedia program. Its main goal is to support young professionals who work in the areas of sales, marketing, online and traditional distribution, exhibition and programming, so that they understand the challenges and build bridges with the independent film industry in Latin America and the world. The selected participants will have the opportunity to work with professionals and tutors of international relevance, to make visible the importance of circulation in the film industry.

The Morelia / IMCINE - Locarno Industry Academy International is also part of the Industry Academy International network which includes Australab in Chile (Santiago – Locarno Industry Academy International), BrLab (Sao Paulo - Locarno Industry Academy International), Thessaloniki IFF in Greece (Thessaloniki - Locarno Industry Academy International), Film at Lincoln Center / New Directors New Films Festival in the USA (NYC - Locarno Industry Academy International), Metropolis Cinema in Lebanon (Beirut - Locarno Industry Academy International). The four-day workshop will be designed and run by Sandra Gómez, distributor and producer at INTERIOR XIII, and Marion Klotz, Industry Academy International project manager.

The Industry Academy International in Morelia selected eight young professionals of very varied profiles, who work in exhibition, distribution or programming of festivals.

The 2019 participants are:

  2. Ana Pía Quintana Enciso (Festival Puy ta Kuxlejaltic, Foro Kinoki, Mexico)
  3. Ernesto Martínez Agraz (Cine Tonalá, Mexico)
  4. Maria Beatriz Estevão de Oliveira Vilela (Imovision, Brazil)
  5. María Fernanda Carvajal Aplazar (Cinetitlán, Guatemala)
  6. Miriam García (Human Rights Watch FF, Hamptons International FF, Mexico)
  7. Paloma Isabel Cabrera Yáñez (Pimienta Films, Cinema 23, Mexico)
  8. Virginia Rico Meneses (Ojo Libre, Mexico)

Projeto Paradiso, a Brazilian philanthropic initiative which aims to develop the capabilities of national talents working in films and series by increasing their participation in international training opportunities, is sponsoring the presence of Maria Beatriz Estevão de Oliveira Vilela, a Brazilian talent at this year’s edition of Locarno Industry Academy at the FICM.
