The FilmWatch grant aim to support special programs curated by film festivals based in North America, film societies and other organizations related to film. These programs must include culturally diverse visual experiences, promote cinema as an art form, be a platform for artists with little representation, cultivate new audiences and maintain a captive audience.

"We are confident that the 47 organizations chosen to receive this year's grants will leave a lasting impact on our society through their diverse and fresh perspectives," said Marcus Hu, chairman of the Academy's Grants Committee, through a statement where they were announced to the recipients of the FilmWatch and FilmCraft grants.
