The Best Short Film from the 14th FICM will screen in Curacao (CIFFR)

For the first time in its history, the Curacao International Film Festival Rotterdam (CIFFR) will host a Caribbean Shorts competition. Alonso Ruizpalacios´ Verde, which won the award for Best Short Film at the 14th edition of FICM will screen in Curacao, thanks to the alliance between FICM and CIFFR.

In 2016, CIFFR signed an agreement of cooperation with six Latin American and Caribbean film festivals (Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Mexico and Trinidad and Tobago), aiming to promote the exchange of knowledge and experience, and encourage film talent. Each of the six participating festivals submitted a short film by for the competition. In addition, CIFFR has chosen the short film E yobida di ayera (Yesterday’s Rain) from the Aruban filmmaker Armand Simon.

The following short films will compete in the Caribbean Shorts competition:

Chocolate (2015), by Fernando Peña (Dominican Republic)

Nigthtmare Before Wedding (2015), by Fabienne Orain (Guadeloupe)

Sweat (2016), by Josiah Persad (Trinidad and Tobago)

Ti coq (2015), by Madia Charlery (Martinique)

Verde (2016), by Alonso Ruizpalacios (Mexico)

E yobida di ayera (2017), by Armand Simon (Aruba)
