Activities of Juliette Binoche at the 12th Edition of FICM

The 12th edition of FICM is honored to have the presence of iconic actress Juliette Binoche, who has received numerous awards, including those given by the major film festivals. She won the Best Actress Award at the Venice International Film Festival in 1993, the Cannes Film Festival in 2010, and the Berlin International Film Festival, Berlinale, in 1997. In her outstanding career in film and theater, she has collaborated with great artists like Philip Kaufman in The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988), Leos Carax in Les Amants du Pont-Neuf/The Lovers on the Bridge (1991), Krzysztof Kieslowski in Three Colors: Blue (1993), Abbas Kiarostami in Certified Copy (2010) and David Cronenberg in Cosmopolis (2012). The last film we saw in our country was Camille Claudel 1915 (2013) by Bruno Dumont in which Juliette Binoche masterfully portrays the French sculptress.

In Morelia, she will present the last film she made with director Olivier Assayas, Clouds of Sils Maria (2014), Official Selection at Cannes. In addition, there will be a screening of Summer Hours (2008), the previous work that she made with the same director and which won several awards from international critics, including Best Foreign Film and Best Picture by the National Society of Film Critics Awards (2010).

We are also pleased to announce that during her visit to the 12th FICM, Juliette Binoche will give a master class, sharing the experience of her remarkable artistic career. Thus, FICM is enriched by the presence of one of the key figures of contemporary cinema, reaffirming itself as a center for exchange between an artist of the stature of our Guest of Honor and the Mexican public. This master conference will be held on Monday, October 20, at 7 pm. The event will be broadcast live on this website.

Clouds of Sils Maria will be presented at a gala function on Sunday, October 19, at Cinépolis Morelia Centro, and in Pátzcuaro at the Teatro Emperador Calzontzin on Monday, October 20. To complete this series, on Tuesday, October 21, there will be a red carpet with the presence of Juliette Binoche before the screening of the films Summer Hours and Camille Claudel 1915 at Cinépolis Morelia Centro.
