Una mirada a la Sección Michoacana 2013

Todos los realizadores de la Sección Michoacana del FICM 2013 respondieron a la misma pregunta: ¿Qué te gustaría decirle al público que va a ver tu trabajo en el 11º FICM?

LARGOMETRAJE

1. Enero. Adrián González Camargo: Enero es una película más colectiva de lo acostumbrado. Si bien el cine ya es un acto colectivo, este largometraje fue posible gracias a amigos, artistas, colegas, familiares y sobre todo el público y la gente que creyó en nosotros y aportó esfuerzos de una u otra forma para que lo hiciéramos posible. Verán una película que se trabajó durante mucho tiempo, desde el inicio de la escritura en el invierno de 2011. Sobre todo, el público verá una historia que no busca complacer y que habla de la culpa, del amor y de cómo los seres humanos somos, ante todo, imprevisibles.

CORTOMETRAJES

1. Algo del universo. Diego Isham, Jazmin Marianed Soria Diaz y Andrés Alonso Ayala (respuesta de Diego Isham): Estamos muy contentos de haber sido seleccionados para la 11ª edición de este FICM. El objetivo de este proyecto es hacer al público cuestionarse las mismas cosas que a veces nosotros nos hemos cuestionado acerca del universo y pocas veces reflexionamos. Ojalá disfruten de nuestro trabajo y los motive a reflexionar más sobre lo que nos rodea.

2. Ciudad capital. Agustín Bracho Adalid: Ciudad Capital es una representación conceptual del vacío, que se esconde detrás del éxito definido en términos económicos y de poder.

3. Dr. Onco. Yadira Arellano: Cuando uno se sienta a escribir una historia para posteriormente filmarla, no piensa en la cantidad de personas a las que ésta puede llegar. Es gratificante mostrar un trabajo que fue hecho con mucho corazón en una plataforma tan importante como es el FICM. Con este cortometraje pretendo que todo aquel que conozca a Dr. Onco pueda sentir un poco de ese temor a ser diagnosticado con una enfermedad terminal como el cáncer. Espero que lo disfruten.

4. Esteban Grabinski. Víctor Rodrigo Pérez Hernández: Me gustaría invitarlos a hacer suya nuestra historia, a vivirla inocentemente, a encontrar en Esteban y en Marta a algún personaje en sus vidas, a disfrutar otro tipo de relato hecho en México. Invitarlos a dejar atrás el paradigma del cine mexicano como cine violento, sanguinario y soez para dar entrada a historias y formas de hacer cine que intentan trascender de una forma más humana; sin abusar del transmitir sensaciones al espectador a través de imágenes cruentas o a historias oscuras.

5. Larga espera. Julio Alberto Avila Díaz: Es un honor formar parte de la Selección Oficial del FICM, uno de los festivales más importantes del país y, en lo personal, el que más disfruto de todos los festivales del país. La semana en que se realiza el FICM es la semana que más espero en todo al año, y ahora no sólo formaré parte como espectador, sino como realizador de un cortometraje. Larga espera está enfocado en mostrar la realidad de un sector olvidado por la sociedad, además busca rescatar aspectos culturales de mi estado (Michoacán) que con el tiempo se han ido quedando en el olvido. Espero lo disfruten y se queden con algo de lo que muestro en mi trabajo.

6. Llamada nocturna. Mauricio Calderón: El cine es un trabajo conjunto y, cuando se hace con amor y perfeccionismo, adquiere un valor del conjunto de personas que lo hicieron. Nosotros hicimos Llamada nocturna con un equipo que trabajó desde su creatividad y corazón. Nos pone muy contentos tener la oportunidad de mostrarlo a un público porque estamos dejando que sean partícipes de nuestro proceso creativo. Es el primer paso de nuestro equipo, con quienes, pienso, seguiremos haciendo cine.

7. Secreto. Jorge Sistos Moreno: Espero puedan asistir a verlo y que, les agrade o no, lo interpreten a su manera.

8. Terreno baldío. Gerardo Martínez Aguilar: El corto “habla” de cómo, sin darnos cuenta, de pronto, sin saberlo, nos vemos y sentimos en un terreno baldío... innecesario. En este FICM, el baldío se transforma fructífero y se realiza en el terreno de lo tangible.

9. Tiempos supermodernos. Lubianca Durán Becerra: Pienso que el cine digital es una gran herramienta, sin embargo, creo que la tecnología no sólo en el cine y el arte sino en la vida cotidiana nos vuelve mas flojos y torpes; además de generar una ciega necesidad por lo mas vanguardista y novedoso. Mi cortometraje es sólo un cuento, pero (quizás suene terrorista) a veces me encantaría volverlo realidad. Es una protesta y la prueba de que aún en el mundo moderno se pueden rescatar las cosas simples, eso que dio origen a la imagen en movimiento y que sigue siendo fiel al propósito para el cual se creó.

10. Una estatua mutilada. Juan Carlos Oñate: Este corto lleva una narrativa poco común, pero habla de cosas que todos compartimos, de alguna manera: los miedos, la muerte, el paso del tiempo... las llevamos en lo profundo y se asoman de vez en cuando. Como con cualquier narración, hay que dejarse llevar un poco y jugar el juego.

FEATURE FILM

1. Enero by Adrián González Camargo: Enero is a film that is a more collective effort than usual. While cinema is already a collective act, this feature film was made possible thanks to friends, artists, colleagues, family members and especially the public and the people who believed in us and supported us in one way or another in order to make it possible. You will see a film that was worked on for a long time, beginning with the screenplay in the winter of 2011. Above all, the public will see a story that does not seek to please and that speaks of guilt, love and how as human beings we are especially unpredictable.

SHORT FILMS

1. Algo del universo. Diego Isham, Jazmin Marianed Soria Diaz y Andrés Alonso Ayala (answer by Diego Isham): We are very happy to have been selected for the 11th edition of FICM. The objective of this project is to make the public question the same things that we sometimes have questioned about the universe and seldom reflect on. I hope you enjoy our work and that it motives you to think more about what surrounds us.

2. Ciudad capital. Agustín Bracho Adalid: Ciudad Capital is a conceptual representation of emptiness, which is hidden behind success, defined in economic terms and in terms of power.

3. Dr. Onco. Yadira Arellano: When you sit down to write a story that will later be adapted to a film, you don’t think about the number of people that it may reach. It’s very rewarding to show a work that was done with a lot of heart at an event as important as FICM. With this short film, I want those who know Dr. Onco to feel some of that fear upon being diagnosed with a terminal illness like cancer. I hope you enjoy it.

4. Esteban Grabinski. Víctor Rodrigo Pérez Hernández: I would like to invite you to make our history yours, to live it innocently, to find in Esteban and Marta some person in your lives, to enjoy another type of story made in Mexico. I invite you to leave behind the paradigm of Mexican cinema as violent, bloody and awful to open the way to stories and ways of making films that attempt to transcend in a more human manner; without abusing the viewer while transmitting feelings through bloody images or dark stories.

5. Larga espera. Julio Alberto Avila Díaz: It’s an honor to be part of the Official Selection of FICM, one of the most important festivals in the country and, on a person note, the one I enjoy the most. The week when FICM takes place is the week I look forward to most during the entire year and now I will not only be there as a spectator, but also as the director of a short film. Larga espera focuses on the reality of a forgotten sector of society, and it also seeks to rescue cultural aspects of my state (Michoacán) that have fallen into oblivion over time. I hope you enjoy it and that something of my work stays with you.

6. Llamada nocturna. Mauricio Calderón: Filmmaking is teamwork and, when it is done with love and perfection, it becomes meaningful to the group of people who work on it together. We made Llamada nocturna with a team that used both their creativity and their heart. We are happy to have the opportunity to show it to the public because we want them to be participants in our creative process. It is the first step for our team, with whom, I think, we will continue making films.

7. Secreto. Jorge Sistos Moreno: I hope everyone can go and see it and that, whether you like it or not, you interpret it in your own way.

8. Terreno baldío. Gerardo Martínez Aguilar: The short “talks” of how, without realizing, suddenly, without knowing, we see and feel ourselves in a wasteland … unnecessarily. At FICM, the wasteland becomes productive and is accomplished on the field of the tangible.

9. Tiempos supermodernos. Lubianca Durán Becerra: I think that digital cinema is a great tool, but I believe that technology, not only in cinema and art, but in everyday life, makes us lazier and clumsier. In addition, it generates a blind necessity for the most avant-garde and innovative. My short film is only a story, but (perhaps its sounds terrorist) sometimes I would love to turn it into reality. It is a protest and proof that even in the modern world it is possible to rescue the simple things, which gave rise to the moving image and that remains true to the purpose for which it was created.

10. Una estatua mutilada. Juan Carlos Oñate: This short has an unusual narrative, but it talks about things that we all share, in some way: fear, death, the passage of time…We carry them deep down inside and they appear from time to time. As in any narration, you must let go a little and play the game.
