FICM present at the 5th edition of Morelia en Boca

The 5th edition of Morelia en Boca, the International Festival of Gastronomy and Wine, will take place between May 29 and 31. This multidisciplinary meeting will be held at Morelia’s Casa de la Cultura, and is set to include some of the city’s best hotels and restaurants, all of which show off the variety and warm hospitality of the Michoacán capital.

This year FICM will form an alliance with Boca to celebrate the close relationship between the kitchen and the seventh art, and the beauty of our shared location. As part of Morelia en Boca 2015, the festival will screen the documentary Vuelve a la vida (2012), directed by Carlos Hagerman, who will be in attendance along with the film’s producer Martha Sosa. FICM and Morelia en Boca will present a conversation with film critic Fernando Moreno entitled “Criticism, Cinema and Cuisine: Who Uses Whom?”

The 5th edition of Morelia en Boca will include the presence of 23 chefs – all important figures in the world of Mexican high cuisine – as well as 16 traditional cooks who will share the customs of their regions. The event will also integrate eight talented chefs from Guadalajara as a way to strengthen the gastronomic bond between the two cities. The cocktail will play an important role in Morelia en Boca, which boasts the presence of three mixologists, as well as special cocktails at each of the festival’s dinners.

They say that an important part of appetite is appearance, and film has seen many visions of gastronomic delights that only serve to confirm the close relationship between the kitchen and the seventh art. Here at FICM we are delighted to be part of the 5th edition of Morelia en Boca and to celebrate Morelia through showcasing and promoting talent in the region.
