The Morelia International Film Festival announces the selection for Impulso Morelia

Morelia, Michoacán, September 14th, 2017. The Morelia International Film Festival is pleased to announce the titles selected to participate in Impulso Morelia 2017, which for the third year in a row will present a program of Mexican feature films in post production with the objective of offering international visibility to these projects.

The films selected to participate in Impulso Morelia 2017 are:

The films in the post-production stage will be screened by their respective teams, exclusively, for national and international festival programmers, producers, distributors and sales agents, as a unique opportunity aimed at shared reflection and the conclusion, promotion and circulation of the proposals. The third edition of Impulso Morelia will take place from October 23 to 25, as part of the 15th FICM.

Impulso Morelia grants important awards to the selected proposals:

FICM grants $200,000 MXN pesos in cash for post-production processes and services of a participating film. The jury who will gran this award is composed by Rasha Salti, independent film and visual arts curator and writer; Richard Peña, who was the Program Director of the Film Society of Lincoln Center and the Director of the New York Film Festival from 1988 until 2012; and Édouard Waintrop, director of the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival.

Cinépolis Distribución guarantees one of the post-production titles national distribution, with an investment in P&A of at least $250,000 MXN pesos.

Estudios Churubusco Azteca provides support of $200,000 MXN pesos in post-production and THX sound services.

Tribeca Film Institute (TFI) grants the “Next” award (sponsored by Canacine). It consists of $10,000 USD for one of the films, plus a year of tutoring by TFI for the development of the next project of the producer of one of the films presented.

Impulso Morelia strengthens FICM’s position as a space of international visibility for Mexican cinema and affirms its mission of promoting the talent of our country’s filmmakers.
