Hugo Villa Presented the Restored Version of El Grito at the 16th FICM

The restored version of the documentary El Grito (1968), by Leobardo López Arretche, was screened as part of the sixteenth edition of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), thanks to the invaluable support of the Filmoteca UNAM and Hugo Villa Smythe, general director of Cinematographic Activities, who was present at the screening, in addition to Daniela Michel, director of FICM.

The Morelia International Film Festival Paid Tribute to Pierre Rissient

Within the 16th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), Daniela Michel, founder and director of the festival, in the company of Jean-Pierre García, film critic and historian, and Meredith Brody, film critic at Indiewire, paid tribute to FICM’s beloved and admired friend Pierre Rissient, with the presentation of the documentary Gentleman Rissient, (2016, dirs. Benoit Jacquot, Pascal Merigeau and Guy Séligman), which portrays the pioneer, journalist, filmmaker and tireless ambassador of international cinema.

Pawel Pawlikowski, guest of honor of the 16th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) received, before the second screening of his most recent film, Cold War (2018), the Filmoteca UNAM Medal. Hugo Villa, general director of Cinematographic Activities of UNAM, presented the award accompanied by Daniela Michel, founder and director of the festival.

The presentation of Los Paisajes at the 16th FICM

During the sixteenth edition of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) a special screening of the film Los Paisajes, by Rodrigo Cervantes, took place and was attended by Daniela Michel, founder and director of the festival; the actors Darío Yazbek Bernal, Pía Laborde Noguez; the producers Víctor Shuchleib and Juan Sarquís, and the musical composer Diego Lozano.

Winners of the 16th Morelia International Film Festival

The 16th edition of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) held its award ceremony at the Ocampo Theater. The event, hosted by the actress Sophie Alexander-Katz, was attended by Alejandro Ramírez Magaña, president of FICM; Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas Batel, vice-president; Daniela Michel, founder and general director; in addition to the jury, the guests and most of the talent in competition.
